PDG Environmental Awarded Contracts Worth $6.6 Million
PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PDG Environmental, Inc. (OTC BB: PDGE - News), a leading provider of environmental remediation and specialty contracting services, announced today that it has been awarded a number of contracts valued, in aggregate, at $6.6 million. Reconstruction projects in California, Mississippi, and Georgia are worth approximately $5.7 million, consisting of restoration work on properties damaged by storms, fire, and mold. In addition, the company has been awarded a contract worth approximately $0.9 million for lead abatement work in California at a historic facility being renovated. PDG Environmental estimates that these projects will primarily impact the second and third quarters of fiscal 2008.
"Our typically slow fiscal first quarter has proven to be one of strong business activity, and the trend appears to be continuing into our fiscal second quarter," said John Regan, chairman and chief executive officer. "Asbestos abatement demand has been high, and our reconstruction contracts are showing a pickup as well, evidenced by these recent awards. We are seeing no decline in bid activity as we head into the hurricane season, and we expect a return to profitability as our right-sizing and marketing initiatives bear fruit."
